Chihaya Ayase is an upbeat and cheerful schoolgirl who has a passion for the traditional Japanese card game of Karuta. After meeting a schoolmate with a similar passion, Chihaya forms the Mizusawa High School Karuta Club. Together with her friends, she strives to become the best Karuta team and gain recognition for the game. Along the way, Chihaya begins to realize her dream of becoming Japan’s best Karuta player. Chihaya and the team work hard and compete in numerous tournaments over the course of 24 episodes, learning valuable lessons about determination and friendship as they progress.
