Onihei Hankacho: Deku no Juzo (2024)

Synopsis: During a routine investigation, Arson and Theft Control Division officer Ono Juzo discovers the body of notorious thief Sukejiro, killed by his wife Ofuji, who is now pregnant. Feeling sympathy for Ofuji, Juzo hides the body and provides her with a safe place to stay. However, the division has also apprehended Kobusa no Kumehachi, a member of the same gang that Sukejiro belonged to, led by Nozuchi no Yahei. Soon after, another gang member, Ogawaya Umekichi, claims to have kidnapped Ofuji and demands Kumehachi’s release. Juzo is faced with a tough decision as he tries to navigate the complicated and dangerous world of thieves during the Edo period. This one-episode drama is based on the novel series “Onihei Hankacho” by Ikenami Shotaro and features elements of samurai culture and historical drama.
